There has been many problems recently with our guestbook.
In order to give everyone a chance to connect with others who view this
site, I am trying out a new feature. It can be used as a guestbook or
a way to communicate and make your opinions known. It is the
Mirandocity forum
There is a link to the forum under the special links on the right side of
this page. Go to the forum and post your views, news, or just your
name and email address to keep in touch. Hope everyone enjoys the
forum and puts it to good use. Address for the forum is

I have not updated this site for some time, but have news
that needs to be shared. As most of you know by now, our gym has been
torn down and the high school building may be next. Below is a copy of
a post from the MirandoCity.com guest book by Eddie Hoch and it describes
the efforts that are underway to save our old high school building.
Mirando High School graduates, Jake Sheeran, Eddie
Hoch, Robbie Black, and Jose Trevino, have formed a non-profit
corporation. The purpose of the corporation is to save our old high school
building from being torn down. We currently are meeting with the Bruni
School Board trying to persuade them to lease the old Mirando High School
building to us. Our plans are to make the high school into a museum. The
non-profit corporation has been certified by the State and is named the
"Mirando High School Museum, Inc."
A fund raising concert for the restoring of
the high school is planned for March 14, 2009 - so mark your calendars.
The concert will be at the Fine Arts Center of Texas A&M International
University in Laredo, Texas. The title of this event is, "A Tribute to
Mrs. Gertrude Staggs and a Celebration of Mirando City." The concert will
feature former piano students of Mrs. Staggs, artists from Texas A&M
International, and South Texas piano teachers.
There will be a large variety of music including
Tejano, semi-classical, religious, patriotic, etc. Cost of the concert is
$50 per ticket, but tickets cannot be purchased. Tickets must be obtained
from local, Laredo businesses that are sponsoring the concert. A list of
businesses sponsoring this concert will be available at a later date.
During this event, we will present awards to former Mirando High School
students who have made significant achievements during their lifetime. If
you would like to nominate someone (even yourself) for one of these
awards, please contact Eddie Hoch at edgarh@suddenlink.net or 316 Fairway
Drive – Bryan, TX 77801 or 979-822-1797.
Please share this information with all of your Mirando City friends. We
have an 800 seat auditorium that we need to fill. It's time for all former
Mirando High School students to come and support our school and community.
If you would like more information on this project or any of the
fundraisers, please feel free to contact me at
