Greetings to all! I lived in Los Ojuelos from 1964 to 1968 where we encountered our first black panther. Then we lived in Mirando until 1975. I remmember some of the photographs Dick Young had in his garage office. The garage and the city were very different in their heydey. I recall Mr Wells, Peyton, Tom Hagan, and Lott Frazier, and our favorite Frank Staggs. My mama spent time every day for a year and a half with Mrs. Dick Young until she passed. May Lito and I will see you all the reunion.

I was a resident of Mirando City from 1961 through 1971. We lived behind Molina's Grocery across from Lala's Cafe. My family(Pedro & Aurora Cristan,Grace Cristan, Thelma Cristan Alvarez, Ricardo and Eduardo Cristan) moved to San Antonio in 1971. Excuse my previous comment, it was accidently submitted before I proof read it. I was asking about "Pescadito" and what happened to "Realitos"? Did this towns just vanished? My parents (De Leon), cousins (Laurel & Gonzalez), uncles and aunts (Alaniz), lived in Mirando. In the late 50's everyone had moved to Laredo, Houston, Corpus Chriti, or Alice. An uncle, "MI TIO MERCED" (my father's youngest brother, in his 80's) and wife Keena, still reside in Mirando. I'm glad you are keeping it alive and well with this web site. I am very glad to know you do have a web site. I wish I could remember all the things that I have heard people talk about Mirando. They always said, "they were the good old times". Oh, and another thing I didn't hear mention in the Mirando near towns was a town called Pescadito close to Los Ojuelos, or was it just a camp also. My mom used to mention pescadito. I wish I had paid more attention, but I was younger and didn't pay attention to every detail.

I just returned from a trip to Mirando City (03/04) to see my little hometown. I lived there from '46 until '58. My parents were Glenn & Juanita Potts. (sister Karen) My dad worked for Blanco Oil Co and we lived on an oil lease/ ranch (Killam) until we became "city" folks and moved into town. I have such fond memories of living in Mirando and remember so many fun times there growing up. My dad was transfered to Post, Tx (south of Lubbock) in '58 and I married and continue to live here. I would love to hear from anyone who might have gone to school with me during the years 52-58. I will always remember the Hochs, Boxes, Gills, Dismukes, Staggs, Blacks, and many others, and i will never forget Mirando City!!!

Interesting site: My parents were living in Mirando City when I was born in 1940. He worked for Magnolia Oil Co. and we lived on what was then called "Magnolia Hill". My Dad was was transferred to Alice when I was 3 years old, but he continued to go there because of work and to visit old friends. On July 24, 2003, long-time Mirando City resident, Edgar L. Hoch, Sr. died in Marble Falls, Texas. He worked for O.W. Killam and served on the Mirando City School Board for many years. His funeral is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday/July 26, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls, Texas.
