Elva S. Garza Obituary


“My home is in Heaven, I am just travelling through this world!”


Elva S. Garza 83, of Alice, Texas, formally of Mirando City, Texas, gained her wings and was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday November 24, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her adored family. She was born September 7, 1933 to Canuto and Marta Juarez Solis in the town of San Diego, TX. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roberto R. Garza of 65 years, her beloved son Francisco Garza, and her adored mother-in-law Jovita R. Garza. Two sisters, Delia McCoon, Diana (Narciso) Trevino, Her two sister-in-laws, Herminia G. Colunga , Olga G.Hernandez and one brother-in-law, Oscar Garza. She was loved beyond words and will be missed dearly. Elva is survived by her loving family, five daughters Nelda (Abel) Flores of Bloomington, Texas, Norma (Roberto D. Jr.) Davila of Victoria, Texas, Martha G. (A.J. Sr.) Medina of Laredo, Texas, Yolanda G. (Jesus M. Sr.) Ramirez of Alice, Texas and Janie (Jose) Sanchez of Alice, Texas, three sons Juan Roberto (Delia) Garza of Port Lavaca, Texas, Oscar (Regina) Garza of Alice, Texas and Pedro N. Garza of Hebbronville, Texas. One brother Canuto Solis Jr (Esperanza) of San Diego, TX, four sisters Emma Hobgood and Alma (Heriberto+) Ramirez both of Arlington, TX, Idalia (Mateo+) Canales of San Diego, TX and Graciela Barnes of Houston, TX, 34 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

She was a devoted, loving wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally. She loved spending time crafting arts for her kids and grandkids, playing on her Ipad, going to the casinos and singing and reading to her grandkids. She was a devoted woman and perfect example of Faith and prayer whom prayers were so powerful. She instilled those values into her children and grandchildren. She was a strong woman and thought her kids to be just as strong. She never met a stranger with her friendly disposition and beautiful smile. She was loved beyond words and will be missed dearly and will also miss her beautiful smile and beautiful singing. We will forever hold you in our hearts our dearly loved “Mama.” “FLY HIGH AND FLY FREE OUR BEAUTIFUL ANGEL!”

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday November 28, 2016 with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams of Hebbronville, TX. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday November 29, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Hebbronville. Burial will follow at the Magnolia Cemetery of Mirando City, TX.
